Foam sclerotherapy for treating varicose veins
Using sclerotherapy with foam has caused a great change in treatment of varicose veins. It is an effective, safe and inexpensive method for treatment of lower extremity varicose veins.

Varicose veins, also known as varicoses or varicosities, occur when veins become enlarged, dilated, and overfilled with blood. Varicose veins are often painful and have a bluish-purple or red color. Often, varicose veins appear swollen and raised. This is a common condition, especially in women. Varicose veins often affect the legs because they are the farthest from the heart and gravity makes it harder for the blood to flow upward.

There are a number of treatments for varicose veins. Foam sclerotherapy is a method of injecting solution to ultimately reduce and remove varicose veins. Varicose veins involving isolated veins in the leg or involving the long saphenous vein or short saphenous vein are suitable for this form of treatment (most varicose veins).  Sclerotherapy of varicose veins is a procedure designed to improve the appearance of the varicose veins. The veins are injected with a solution called a sclerosant which damages the internal lining of the vein and causes blood clotting within the vein.

Our Projection Vein Finder can be used for assisting foam sclerotherapy for treatment of lower extremity varicose veins. It can guide the injection into the correct area, and the vein condition can be seen clearly on the process of foam sclerotherapy. When the foam is injected into the vein, the projected vein image disappears.
